Contramaestre assumes the need to correct distortions in the economic-social order

In a recent plenary session, the Municipal Assembly of the People’s Power of Contramaestre, identified and presented to its delegates the main projections of the local government with a view to correcting deep distortions and structural deviations that hinder the economic performance of the territory and country, in the midst of the negative impact caused by the world crisis and the tightening of the U.S. blockade against Cuba.

In the current context, it is necessary to plan actions which, together with a number of measures, will make it possible to solve the problems, give new impetus to the economy and advance in the improvement of the system of People’s Power.

The above has to obey the realization of a broad political process of analysis and reflection with the participation of all the social sectors of the territory, conceiving that at the level of the popular councils there is already a schedule for the development of the debates and enriching proposals of the actions, between February 27 and March 7 of the current 2024.

Distortions in Contramaestre

In Contramaestre, several distortions were identified by the government, among which are: the lack of knowledge and mastery of the normative dispositions that regulate the organization and operation of the Organs of the Popular Power, and the accumulation of proposals pending solution, as well as the lack of accompaniment in the work of the delegate by the Local Administration and administrative entities.

The difficulties in the identification, selection and election of delegates, deficiencies in the link between the government and the people, problems in the application of the policy of cadres of elective positions and their reserves, and the lack of depth in the popular controls carried out by the popular councils are also listed as part of the irregularities to be addressed in the midst of this process.

In addition to these problems, there is the non-use of integrated community work as a method to encourage popular participation in the strengthening of values and in the search for solutions to social problems, complaints, petitions and proposals of the population, as well as the difficulties in the processing of the people’s appeals.

In view of these and other shortcomings, it is up to the government of Contramaestre to take advantage of the spaces of debates to search, with collective thinking, the ways that favor the implementation in each place of the most suitable and feasible ways to solve the problems that lacerate the economic and social life of the communities that make up this jurisdiction in the east of Cuba.
