The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) promotes the Day for Peace, against the Blockade and Terrorism which will become a worldwide rejection of the U.S. hostility against Cuba.
The initiative will be in force until the date of presentation at the UN of the Draft Resolution against the U.S. blockade of the island and it will include actions for its exclusion from the list of alleged sponsors of terrorism.
Cuba will put forward once more the urgent need to put an end to the U.S. blockade against Cuba, which for more than six decades has caused incalculable suffering to the people, and suffocates the possibilities of development of the country, and limits the free enjoyment of human rights.
According to ICAP officials, the beginning of the Day will be marked by a tribute to Fabio Di Celmo, Italian tourist victim of a terrorist attack on the Copacabana Hotel in Havana on September 4, 1997.
Likewise, the call includes activities not only in the capital but throughout the country in which ICAP’s provincial delegations will be involved, its organizers said the day before at a press conference held in Havana.
The call of the Cuban pacifist group, they affirmed, will surely find echoes among its peers around the world, as well as among progressive people who have been systematically demanding an end to the hostility of the U.S. against the Antillean nation for more than six decades.
In order to achieve the objectives set, ICAP points out among the special motivations, the celebration of the International Day of Peace (September 21), the universal condemnation of the genocidal U.S. blockade and the unjustified inclusion of Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
Likewise, cinema-debates, conferences and events will be held, as well as actions in the online space, such as the “tuitazo” that will be dedicated to Palestine on September 21.
On the foreign scene, Cuba will take part in various rallies at the request of the Solidarity Movement with the island, including the celebration of the World Day for Peace, led by the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (September 18-25).
The State Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba in Spain (October 4-6), the Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, in China (October 28-31) and the XIX European Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, in Paris (November 22-24) will also take place.
Actions continue around the world requesting the U.S. Government to lift the unjust blockade against Cuba, in the hope that we will overcome.
