An example of this is the reproduction and swine pre-breeding unit Titi Tres, which in the municipality of Contramaestre is betting on overcoming difficulties and growing in all its indicators.
To ensure the rescue of swine production in the province of Santiago de Cuba, the municipality of Contramaestre is key. The Tití 3 Brigade is a fundamental link in the production chain designed by Swine Enterprise Santiago.
Here, the pre-breeding pigs are brought to the ideal weight through a rigorous work in which a couple of dozen operators, security agents and administrative personnel are involved.
One of the operators states:
“The Tití 1 Brigade supplies us with the baits and then here they go on to take the corresponding weight to take them to the El Brujo labor collective, which is located in Santiago de Cuba.”
This collective has had to resolve infrastructure and insurance issues in order to rescue the facility. One of these actions resolved the water supply using a nearby reservoir through gravity.
“…when it rains and the reservoir catches water, I make a hose installation up to a reserve water box that I have here, I fill my water box by gravity and supply water to my animals by teat, for cleaning…”
The productive plans begin to be reactivated progressively, so the operator emphasizes:
“In July and August we have raised more than 300 animals, my brigade, the Tití 3, we have earned around 6 million pesos”.
Achieving pigs weighing 80 kilograms is the immediate purpose of this feedlot, for which they are working on improving animal feed, and stimulating workers with a well-defined commitment.
“The commitment is to continue producing, to continue feeding the mass, and to increase the delivery of meat for the benefit of the population and our salaries by having better income.”
