The U.S. Hands Off Cuba Committee (U.S. Hands Off Cuba L.A.) has called for a discussion to mark the launch of the International Aid Convoy’s support actions for Cuba in Los Angeles. This initiative joins the recent announcement by activist David Adler to coordinate efforts aimed at breaking the U.S. embargo that is suffocating the Cuban nation.
Under the slogan of raising “global voices against economic genocide,” the event will feature prominent figures in international solidarity, including David Ramírez, an official at the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C.; Helen Yaffe, a UK academic and author of the book “We Are Cuba”; Kevin Kucera, district president of the International Association of Machinists; Jodie Evans, co-founder of CODEPINK; and Estee Chandler, of the organization Jewish Voices for Peace (LA).
The organizers denounce the recent measures by the U.S. administration, including the imposition of tariffs on third countries that trade oil with Cuba, as a fascist and criminal strategy aimed at strangling the well-being of the Cuban people under unfounded pretexts.
The call to action invites all friends of Cuba and human rights defenders to join this day of protest and solidarity on February 28, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Immanuel Presbyterian Church, located at 668 Catalina St., Los Angeles.
