Even if we don’t want it, sometimes the solution to one problem creates another, more complex one, if things aren’t done properly. I’m referring to a hole that the Water and Sewerage Company of the municipality of Contramaestre dug approximately two years ago to fix a break in the drinking water distribution network. It’s located at the corner of 17th Street and 2nd Street in the Lumumba neighborhood of this town. The hole is one and a half meters deep and the same width, and the dirt and debris remain there, like a guard, waiting for someone to finish the unfinished work.
The truth is that the water leak was fixed immediately; however, the hole, the debris, and now the bushes that have grown over time are still there. Because of this, two traffic accidents have occurred, fortunately without serious injuries.
At this corner of 17th Street and 2nd Street in the Lumumba neighborhood of Contramaestre, accidents have occurred due to the narrowness of the street, exacerbated by the open pothole. This makes it difficult to turn left or right, leading to loss of control and unexpected accidents, according to several local residents.
So, what are we waiting for to solve this problem? Should we wait for another, more serious accident before taking the necessary measures now, while we still have the opportunity? The solution doesn’t depend on resources, but rather on the will of people to undertake the task and a greater demand from the administrative management of the entity responsible for this action. The Contramaestre Water Company has the final say.
