Contramaestre registers tax debts in the 2023 fiscal year

In Contramaestre, an unfavorable panorama was evidenced in fiscal year 2023, when initial debts for more than seven million pesos were reported, whose notable incidence fell on natural taxpayers who exercise the activity on their own account.

This matter corroborates the presence of indiscipline in the fulfillment of tax obligations, and as a result of the actions of the National Taxpayer Service Office, ONAT, of this municipality, the amount owed was reduced, leaving 1.4 thousand pesos pending collection.

As part of the direct collection actions carried out by the ONAT, according to Arelia Rodríguez Reyna, director of this agency in the locality, “288 determinations were made, of those to natural persons 95 and to legal taxpayers 193, with 100 percent of the fines applied”.

Rodríguez Reyna added that “135 licenses were withdrawn from self-employed activity holders due to non-compliance with their formal duties, 99 of them corresponding to their governing body: the Municipal Directorate of Labor and Social Security. “Of this total, 42 presented themselves to the ONAT and settled their debts, which enabled them to resume their businesses”.

With respect to the level of performance for the benefit of the better development of fiscal year 2023, in Contramaestre, ONAT was able to collect more than 193.3 thousand pesos, which led to reduce the negative effect on the use of the budget.

The tax non-compliance by legal entities was affected by several items: food products and free sales, the main cause being the absence of products in high popular demand.

The ONAT of Contramaestre in this 2024, therefore, intends to achieve an increase in the effectiveness of the Integral Plan of Fiscal Control linked to the consolidation of the directives approved for the prevention and confrontation of indiscipline and tax non-compliance and evading behaviors, maximum when in the territory are registered debtors of their tax obligations, whose amount for this concept in 2023, exceeded 7 million pesos.

Hence, the exhortation of the directors of this agency in the locality to all taxpayers to comply within the established time with the contribution to the Budget, asserting that the taxes they pay are the main source of income obtained by the State to finance public expenditures and contribute to the economic growth of the country.
