The Baire feed mill in the municipality of Contramaestre is consolidating its position as the leading grassroots business unit among those of its kind in eastern Cuba. The introduction of productive initiatives, together with the union work and the innovative movement, have allowed a constant growth, on the way to consolidation. This is a good example of creative resistance in the midst of the world economic crisis and the consequences of the trade war.
A period of consolidation has begun at the Baire feed mill after two years of intense work aimed at resizing its production activity.
To achieve this, initiatives characterized by entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation have been introduced.
The central axis of this development strategy, in a context of world crisis and trade blockade, has been diversification, linkage with new players in the economy, and as a guarantee of productive sustainability, the circular economy and the completion of production cycles.
Obtaining part of the raw material used to formulate animal feed in one of its farms, processing these products in its own establishments with recovered equipment and using the final result in animal breeding in other of its units, have turned this Grassroots Business Unit into an example of creative resistance.
Circular economy is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, reusing, repairing, renewing and recycling existing materials and products as many times as possible to create added value. In the Baire Feed Mill, the most comprehensive of its kind in the province of Santiago de Cuba, there is in this issue a reference to be followed by the rest of the entities in this sector in Cuba.
The ingenuity of the workers, organized in a powerful innovation movement, has allowed the recovery of previously obsolete machinery, the active operation of a union section that constantly plans, evaluates and stimulates, is another of the strengths of this collective.
In 2024 the purpose is to give continuity to the projects that have achieved positive results, fulfill their productive plans and consolidate everything when it has been demonstrated in practice that it is beneficial for the men and women who work here, their families and the people.
