May Day Parade in Contramaestre for Dignity

The cloudy sky at dawn, after a few drizzles in the early morning, was the ideal scenario for a May Day parade in Contramaestre, Cuba.

Hundreds of workers accompanied by children and young people moved from early hours to the concentration points, to gather in blocks by centers and spheres of services and economy.

At the same time, gastronomic services were prepared for everyone’s enjoyment after the parade.
The gastronomic offerings, both state and private, included jams, roast pork snacks, shout chicken, pizzas, fish, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, for the enjoyment of young and old.

Even under a cloudy sky, starting at 8:00 A.M., the parade of a working people began, carrying banners, posters and real samples of productions in some cases, all showing the revolutionary feeling and unconditional support to the Cuban Revolution and its leaders.

The different blocks shouted slogans allegorical to the International Workers’ Day and of revolutionary reaffirmation, many with images of Fidel Castro and Che, whose legacies will guide our steps and will always strengthen our resilience and show determination to keep the Homeland free and sovereign.

Once again the people of Contramaestre showed their attachment to their roots and their irrevocable determination not to lose their identity as part of the Cuban nation, and to show that they continue the battle to improve their living conditions despite the economic limitations resulting from the global crisis and the iron blockade imposed by the U.S. government since 1962.
