Rosa Rojas, is a woman without pay or vacations who hardly knows rest. Her life, as a housewife, is an endless labyrinth of domestic chores that govern her daily obligations with no time for herself.

Divided between endless chores and satisfying the demands, tastes and needs of her children, grandchildren and husband, this 53-year-old woman with little education abandoned her job to become what she never dreamed of: the queen of the household.

Like many Cuban women, the economic crisis that began in the 1990s led her to change her destiny by staying at home to protect her family.

This noble and simple woman from the town of Maffo, without sufficient social recognition and no monetary compensation, is in charge of sustaining and reproducing the forces and energies from the family environment.

Rooted to her home, Rosa assures to have some days more agitated and exhausting than others, those that end up almost falling asleep in front of the television set overcome by fatigue.

Listening to this woman’s daily to-do list is a fairly realistic portrait of the busy schedule of the housewife. Preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner, making the beds, boiling the drinking water, scrubbing the tiles, watering the plants, washing, cleaning, ironing, picking up and tidying the house, shopping, sewing the clothes, are all part of her daily chores.

Identified with domestic work and satisfied with her unpaid family contribution, Rosas Rojas assumes her responsibility proud of her role and happy with her contribution at home.

Leaving her mark and making history, the existence of this woman from her uniqueness, weaves a world full of well-being that makes her feel very full.
