Federation of High School Students celebrates its 53rd anniversary of foundation

This December 6, the Federation of High School Students (FEEM) celebrates its 53rd anniversary. This organization, founded in 1970, groups students from high school, pre-university, technological and polytechnic schools.

In these areas, each group has a president, who responds to the interests of his or her classmates and follows the directions of the FEEM Secretariat at the center level. They, in turn, respond to the guidelines of the Municipal Committee of the Young Communist League (UJC) and it is the Provincial Secretariats that direct all the activity of the organization in the province.

Students’ concerns

María Cecilia Chacón Madruga, an eleventh grade student of the Instituto Preuniversitario Antonio Santiago García (Tony Santiago) of Contramaestre is the president of the FEEM in this school. The young lady affirms that besides being a challenge, it is an honor for her to be able to represent her classmates, to make their concerns, needs and concerns viable, and in short, to be the voice of the student body of her educational center.

Diego Verdecia de la Cruz, who is the municipal president of the Federation of High School Students at the municipal level, says that it is a daily challenge to be in charge of the organization’s tasks in addition to his responsibility as an accounting student at the Ramón Ricardo Méndez Cabezón Polytechnic in Contramaestre. As its leader, he must attend to the criteria of the students of the 11 FEEM centers of the territory.

Even though 53 years have passed since the creation of this organization, its essence continues to be to represent, guide and strengthen the student body, showing them how, from a young age, they can take part in the future of the nation.
