For about three months now, the Orlando Pantoja Tamayo General Teaching Hospital in the municipality of Contramaestre has had a steam water distiller thanks to the innovation of Héctor Manuel Batista Castro, a graduate in electromedicine. Public health worker who recently completed his mission in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

“In the absence of a distiller in the country, I set myself the task of making a steam water distiller that has a great economic impact, saves energy and recycles waste water. Previously we had to fetch water from Santiago de Cuba (82 km away). Here we distill around 25 0 30 liters per hour”.

When he arrived to the homeland and to his work center, he found this problem in the entity. His experience in the creation of other distillers allowed him to create this invention.

“With this innovative work, electrical resistors that no longer enter the country are recovered. In addition to this innovation I made another one when I recovered the temperature controller of an equipment to sterilize milk for children.”

Batista Castro has received deserved recognition for his innovative work for its impact on health services and the economy.
