Cubans celebrate today the 64 anniversary of the The Bay of Pigs Victory, when the US imperialism was dramatically defeated in less than 72 hours by the popular militia lead by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
Cuba showed the world that we were determined to counteract any maneuver of the enemy even in the military field, under any circumstance since, if we go over what happened on April 25, when US war planes bombarded the airports of San Antonio de Baños in Havana, of Ciudad Libertad and of Santiago de Cuba, to destroy the possible air defense.
The invaders disregarded the essence of the Cuban Revolution; they misunderstood the actual stand of the Cuban people, decide to defend our sovereignty and independence, which our forefathers fought for since Carlos Manuel de Céspedes freed his slave and asked them to fight for the freedom of their homeland.
The Bay of Pigs Victory is simple a symbol the determination of the Cuban people to independent, free and sovereign. Nothing can stop us now. We shall never surrender, or let our homeland be a colony or a Neo-colony again.
