Workers from the different unions of the Maffo district participated in the May Day plenary meeting for that locality. At the meeting, details were given about the organization of the parade at municipal level, and the willingness of all sectors to participate in the activities to be carried out on that date was ratified.
Present at the meeting were Juan Carlos Martínez Despaine, political coordinator of the PCC in Contramaestre; Lester Zamora, member of the CTC secretariat in the municipality; and Raúl Igarza Hechavarría, president of the Maffo popular council.
This year, the May Day activities will pay homage to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and will be dedicated to the 172nd anniversary of the birth of José Martí and the 86th anniversary of the creation of the Cuban Workers’ Central Union, CTC.
The main objective of this celebration will be to involve all workers in the defense of the social project being built in our country, in addition to reaffirming their commitment to the defense of the nation.
“For Cuba together we create” is the slogan that will preside over the next May Day, and there will also be collateral slogans such as “We feel for Cuba” and “May Day, facing any challenge”.
Food sector workers will make up the block that will start the parade for the proletariat day in the municipality of Contramaestre, while Education will be in charge of the closing.
