People’s Power continues to drive social processes in Cuba

The strength of the people lies within the governing bodies

There are many values that are acquired in human beings, when a task is carried out with love and dedication for the good of all, as our José Martí once said. Jorge Benítez Carvajal is one of those examples that we want to highlight in this journalistic work, at the time he serves as Delegate of Popular Power in the 156th constituency of the Popular Council Los Pazos Xavier, of the municipality of Contramaestre. But who better than the protagonist of government activities in that community to tell us a bit about what happens there, under his mandate.

Interviewee: I have now been in this position for 20 years and I have gained a lot of experience, we have been working together with the people on the main problems; we have had good times and bad, such as COVID-19, evacuations of people due to hurricanes to protect their lives, and all this work was carried out by the unity of the delegate with his people.

Journalist: When referring to community work in the area, the Delegate of the Pazos Xavier specified:

E: The work in the community is going well and at every moment, no matter how difficult the situation is, we have been with the voters facing the difficulties and together solving the challenge, thanks to the unity of the people. This work of the delegate gives us a lot of experience because in addition to helping, we learn from the voters, because many have responsibilities in different positions in the community where we live, so we all learn and the work goes better.

P: About the work of the delegate in these 50 years, he continued to say in the dialogue with the reporter.

E: You gain a lot of experience by being in direct contact with the problems that exist in the population, by taking responsibility for the difficulties and among all with the delegate at the front, and to tackle the tasks with a patriotic action full of hope for the future.

Q: How does the delegate care for the most vulnerable people?

E: First of all, by making a visit to check the real situation and to relate to the case until a final or partial solution is reached, but always taking care of that elector who chose me to represent him in the community.

E: I would say that the main task of a delegate in a constituency is the unity of the neighborhood, where we talk about the elimination of micro-basins, the planting of agricultural food, voluntary blood donations, dealing with crime in all its manifestations and above all, support the Revolution so as not to lose the experience gained in these 50 years of creating the Popular Power.
