Cuba to have foreign delegations on May Day

Foreign Delegations to take part om May Day in Cuba.

Some 744 international delegates from more than 30 countries, representing a hundred trade union organizations from the five continents, confirmed their participation today in Cuba’s activities for the International Workers’ Day.

In the context of May 1st, trade unionists and friends of the country will arrive in the Caribbean island, as part of the May 1st Brigade, trade union internships, specialized groups and those arriving independently, the CTC announced the day before at a press conference, headed by its head, Ulises Guilarte.

Of the total number of confirmed delegates, 468 come from Latin America and North America, 201 from Europe, 67 from Africa and the Middle East, and 8 from Asia and Oceania. The nations with the largest number of representations are: United States (237), United Kingdom (78), France (58) and Germany (51).

The visitors, summoned by the CTC and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), will participate here in the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, scheduled from April 30 to May 2.

As part of the agenda of the Meeting, there will also be a “trade union tribune” in a selected labor center, the attendance to the May 1st march, and the “international party of trade union solidarity” also in this capital, the organizers assured.

This event gives continuity to other world forums previously held in Havana this year (VI International Conference for the Balance of the World, January, and IV International Colloquium Patria, March), which provides knowledge about the reality of Cuba, Guilarte valued.

The also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party highlighted the realization, on May 2, of a Round Table informative program in which some of the trade union activists present will appear.

He also pointed out that trade union, social and solidarity organizations will express, once again, their rejection to the hostility of the US government against Cuba and will demand the end of the economic, financial and commercial siege against it.
