Beijing, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) Chinese media condemned the U.S. blockade against Cuba and denounced today its responsibility in the energy emergency faced by the island.
The Global Times published an illustration to show how this commercial, economic and financial siege is closely linked to the collapse of the Caribbean country’s electro-energy system by preventing access to oil sources.
Media such as CGTN and Xinhua also published information on the situation experienced by the island and highlighted the negative consequences of these sanctions, as well as the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism drawn up by Washington.
Previously, the Chinese expressed their support for Havana in the face of the current energy emergency and urged the elimination of the blockade.
In declarations to Prensa Latina, businessman Huang Qiao Ming (Simon) assured that the U.S. blockade is unfair and represents a great difficulty for international trade.
However, he expressed the will to find alternatives to overcome this blockade which currently embodies an economic and financial war against the Caribbean nation.
“Trust, unity and technology”, said Simón, referring to the importance of working together and being aware that a better future is possible in spite of this blockade.
For his part, Chinese film director Yin Dawei repudiated the U.S. blockade policy against Cuba and expressed his firm opposition to this siege. In declarations to Prensa Latina he said that although the North American country wants to blockade the island, it cannot prevent the Cuban people from interacting with the world.
The Foreign Ministry of the Asian giant expressed its support for the Cuban people and government, while rejecting the blockade against the island.
In response to a question from Prensa Latina, spokesman Lin Jian pointed out that according to the principles of the United Nations Charter and the basic norms of international law, Washington should immediately repeal this siege, eliminate the sanctions as soon as possible and remove the Caribbean country from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
“This is in the interest of the United States, of Cuba, of both peoples, it favors regional stability and development, and it is what the broad international community supports,” he added.
He reiterated that China and Cuba are good friends, comrades and brothers and that Beijing is aware of the difficulties facing the island at this time.
“We believe that, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban people will surely overcome this difficult time and advance their socialist cause,” he said.
Following its recovery after the collapse, the island’s energy sector currently presents better prospects with the synchronization of the National Electric System and the incorporation of new units.
