Contramaestre reelected provincial government

The delegates to the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power of Contramaestre, gathered in their own right and after approving the prerogative of the President of the Republic of Cuba to propose the candidacy for the election of the governor and vice-governor, reelected both for the performance in these positions in the province of Santiago de Cuba, with 96 percent of attendance and 98.7 percent of the valid votes cast at the polls on May 28, 2023.

In this legislative sphere, in accordance with the Magna Carta of the Cuban nation and Law Number 127, Electoral Law, the 153 delegates of the People’s Power of Contramaestre present in these elections, and by means of free, direct, equal and secret suffrage, cast 96.7 percent of valid votes for Beatriz Johnson Urrutia for the position of governor and 98 percent for Manuel Falcón Hernández, for vice governor in the province of Santiago de Cuba.

Contramaestre voted under democracy

In Contramaestre, with the realization of this transparent and democratic process led by Julio Cesar Garcia Garcia, president of the Municipal Electoral Council and Victor Manuel Montecinos Rodriguez, deputy appointed by the Council of State, another day of full confidence and attachment to the Cuban political system was lived, in which the delegates recognized the moral and revolutionary trajectory of the re-elected, for being worthy representatives and defenders of the interests of the people.

According to the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, in each province of the national geography there is a government of the People’s Power, which works in close connection with the people and is formed by a governor and a Provincial Council, for a five-year term.

The Government represents the Cuban State to channel the economic and social development in each of the provinces of the country, and in its respective demarcation it acts as coordinator between the central structures of the State and the municipalities, contributing to the harmony of interests and does not interfere in the functions and attributions that the Constitution and the laws grant to the municipal organs of the People’s Power.
