Contramaestre, a municipality in the province of Santiago de Cuba, is also working on the extension of cellular telephone services to the most remote areas of its geography.
In spite of the difficult economic situation that Cuba is going through, the investment plans have not stopped so that in the shortest possible time all Contramaestre residents have access to telecommunications.
The past 2022 was a very productive year in reducing the number of silence areas
“We had the joy of building a cellular radio base in the district of Pueblo Nuevo, a historical claim of this population there. Coverage in that area was quite deficient, and we were finally able to build a cellular radio base with 3G connection in this area, and very happy is the population.”
“We also built a similar installation in the Lumumba district, there in La Algarroba, with a lot of acceptance by the population, there we had a very poor coverage area as well; the coverage improved, the Internet connection by 3G improved.”
“At the end of the year we built a cellular radio base in Ruta Martiana district, located in El Tití, and another one in the Bungo La Venta district, located in Los Camilitos…”
That each district in the municipality of Contramaestre has at least one way to connect to the Internet and that there is no zone of silence is a working policy of the territorial division of Santiago de Cuba of ETECSA.
The work today is focused on rural areas, improving communications infrastructure and improving living conditions for the population of these rural areas, a population that produces food for everyone on a daily basis”.
To make these plans real, we count first and foremost on communication workers.
“We see that in the innovations, in the daily work of our workers who are always thinking about improving the services we provide to the population here.”
