Spring campaign in Contramaestre goes favorably

Abundant rainfall has fallen during the month of June in the municipality of Contramaestre in Santiago, which has influenced the favorable behavior of the sowing corresponding to the current spring campaign.

According to data provided by the local agricultural delegation to this website, more than 9,500 hectares of land are under cultivation in this part of eastern Cuba. The plan, which had been forecast up to this stage, has been fulfilled at 101 percent.

In this aspect, the companies Laguna Blanca, Café and the agro-industrial company América Libre have a strong weight in the campaign. In the case of the agro-industrial company América Libre, it is in charge of the municipal entity self-supply. Responsible for guaranteeing food to more than eighty thousand inhabitants of this Contramaestrian jurisdiction.

However, although the behavior of the planting of the spring campaign reaches encouraging results, there are still productive structures that fail to meet these plans, among them are sixteen cooperatives belonging to the agro-industrial company América Libre.

The Contramaestrian productive sector should focus even more on this task because the failure to take advantage of the rainy planting periods has repercussions on production yields.

Regarding land preparation, the territory has more than one thousand hectares ready out of the fifteen thousand two hundred and three point seven planned. None of the cooperatives are behind in this task. It is worth mentioning that only the deficit in the delivery of fuel has had an impact, which has caused the farmers to look for alternatives to guarantee this task. This element has been recognized by the representatives of the territory.

On the other hand, the collection of food, grains and vegetables is another aspect that is supervised by the productive sector, so that of a plan of three thousand two hundred and thirty-nine point one tons, more than four thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight tons have been collected so far.
