Sustainable food production is the new target of the local economy

The art of farming is based on foresight, planning, making proper use of soils, making the most of the land resource and protecting it from degradation. The final objective: to provide food to those who work in the fields and their families, complying with the plans of delivery to social consumption and sales to the population. An example of consolidation of sustainable agricultural activity is located in the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production, UBPC, La Mantonia in the municipality of Contramaestre, Santiago.
