Producing foodstuffs, purpose of farmer Rogelio Mora

Those who know Rogelio Mora González know of his tobacco tradition, since this producer was one of those who in the southeastern municipality of Contramaestre achieved excellent results in this important exportable item.

However, today Mora González has turned his attention to another line and productive objective. Achieving a reference farm is the goal of this farmer, an endeavor that he has been working on together with his family for the last seven months.

This goal has been achieved thanks to his hard work, perseverance and the support of his loved ones and the Moisés Popa Credit and Service Cooperative (CCS), which he is a member of.

Thirty-two hectares of land is the extension of this farm located on the banks of the Cedro dam in the Popular Council of Baire. Property that has managed to be a diversified, profitable and productive possession. A place where weeds and marabú used to be part of the landscape, today there are plantations of yucca, plantain, beans and sweet potatoes.

Journalist: How have you achieved this in only seven months?

Rogelio Mora González (RMG): I am working on the cultivation of plantain FIATH 04 since the tobacco production fell and I am going to dedicate myself to the cultivation of this plantation. I have been at it for seven months and I see quite a lot of results so far.

Q: You want this to be a reference farm, how are you working towards this goal you have set for yourself?

RMG: I am trying to make here a productive pole to produce food for the people.

Q: What does Rogelio have planted today in his farm?

RMG: I have sweet potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers.

Q: How much effort has Rogelio had to make to achieve the results he has achieved?

RMG: Working with my family and my workers, that has been the secret.
