Eusebio Leal left an immortal footprint

Eusebio Leal left an unforgettable footprint

The last day of July becomes sad for those, like Eusebio Leal, who have always had the figure of a man as an example and guide, that mortal who returned beauty to the city when it seemed impossible.

But death is not more powerful than his legacy and lessons in defense of the memorable built and immaterial marriage that distinguishes the Cuban capital.

For three years now, every July 31, the Historian of the City of Havana, Eusebio Leal Spengler, is remembered, that legend who devoted soul and efforts to see the streets shine with its buildings of Old Havana, with its own rhythm, with its flashes, with its lights and shadows.

The architecture and culture of the historic center of the capital still treasure its brightness to evoke the Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations, so that Havana can be a state of mind with its customs, traditions and spirituality.

Eusebio is in our daily routine

Although Eusebio Leal is no longer with us, his death is not true, because his thought and legacy still remain alive in the former village of San Cristobal.

The white sheets are hanging again this July 31 on Havana’s balconies in homage to the unyielding warrior of beauty, the authentic founder, the master.

His exemplary legacy travels across Cuba and different latitudes because Eusebio is not an ordinary man, he is an exceptional legend.

Loyal to the homeland, to creative work, to virtue, is this heart of light, who with ingenuity and mastery saved the city from the devastating damage of time and oblivion.

He is Eusebio Leal, the eternal memory, the respect, the gratitude; after his last farewell, he is still the feeling of a life.
