With the welcoming of students and teachers from different educational levels, Contramaestre kicked off the 2026-2027 school year. The municipal ceremony for the opening of this new academic year took place at the José de la Luz y Caballero Elementary School in the city’s historic center.
The highest political and governmental authorities of this municipality in Santiago de Cuba province attended, as well as members of the Municipal Education Department, along with family members and community members.
During the event, the commitment of Contramaestre’s students for the 2026-2027 school year was announced. This year pays tribute to the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, and includes everything from a positive attitude toward their studies to the study of national and local history within the school setting.
The occasion also served to recognize the efforts of various individuals and agencies responsible for contributing to the smooth operation of academic and extracurricular activities, as well as their dedication to maintaining the school as a center of educational influence.
Annia Valdéz Ramírez, a distinguished teacher at the José de la Luz y Caballero school, delivered the welcoming address for the new school year, emphasizing the responsibilities of both educators and students.
This academic year will take place under challenging circumstances, making collaboration among all those involved in the teaching process the most effective way to achieve satisfactory results despite the current difficulties.
