Contramaestre Celebrates International May Day

Contramaestre May Day

This May Day, Contramaestre celebrated International Workers’ Day, a date that recognizes the dedicated work of laborers, farmers, professionals, and all those who, from one sector or another, contribute to the growth and development of the town. Under the premise of defending the nation in these times, a day filled with enthusiasm and commitment to the future unfolded.

The traditional parade took place on the Central Highway, which had been beautified beforehand following a collective clean-up of the city’s main streets. Workers from all sectors, centers, and entities of the municipality attended, along with political and governmental authorities, and leaders of unions and mass organizations.

In this eastern region, the 15 unions, representing more than 14,000 workers, added vibrancy to the celebration through diverse initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to their respective social responsibilities. Banners and flags were the centerpiece of the celebration, which was also attended by students and their families.

In this way, the people of Contramaestre, adorned in the colors of the Cuban flag, celebrated a day of well-deserved recognition for those who sustain the country’s future through their diverse work, demonstrating unity and resilience in the face of current challenges.

The May Day celebration also reaffirmed the commitment to contributing to the construction of an increasingly just society, to respecting the rights of every Cuban worker, and to the well-being of the entire population.
