Silvia Virgen Fajardo Rosales

Her name is Silvia Virgen Fajardo Rosales, but her family and friends call her Chicha. She is a self-sacrificing woman who for 10 years has been the delegate of the district 160 in its demarcation Pueblo Nuevo, in the municipality of Contramaestre. With tireless work, he has earned the respect of neighbors and voters. Today, everyone around her considers her a faithful friend of the community.

What has been your experience as a delegate for so many years in your constituency?

Silvia Virgen (S.V): I like the work that I do, to help the population and feel happy despite the difficulties we are experiencing. I also like to calm them down, guide them and handle their needs. I have earned the respect of the population, which is essential for a delegate and feel that people appreciate me. That has made me feel comfortable with this task.

What have you achieved for the benefit of the community during this time of work?

Silvia Virgen (S.V): I have achieved several things, such as the park for children, who wanted it for a long time. In one of the most remote neighbourhoods, a public telephone was installed to improve communication. Some roads that were in poor condition and made it difficult for people to move around vulnerable areas have been repaired. Other projects are under way, such as water supply in the area.

In your opinion, what are the characteristics that should not be lacking in a delegate?

Silvia Virgen (S.V): First of all, it is necessary to have ethics in order to treat people correctly. You have to win the people with affection and respect. I, for example, accompany all my constituents whether in the case of illness, death of a loved one, or any other situation they are presented with. Solidarity and unity must also be kept in mind, as our president always says.

How do you allocate your time between your responsibilities as a delegate and family life?

Silvia Virgen (S.V): To do both things at once you have to organize the time very well. Sometimes my family has suggested that I can stop being a delegate for a while, but it’s not an option for me because I’m really happy to help my neighbors, friends, constituents. It is my vocation to lead others towards the solution of their problems and give them words of encouragement.

What message would you give to other constituency delegates in our municipality?

Silvia Virgen (S.V): The advice I would give them is always to understand the population, including those who, for some reason, approach in an incorrect way. To do that, you have to earn everyone’s respect and work responsibly. We must help others in any situation that arises, as long as it is in our hands, and thus achieve unity and affection around us.

Silvia Virgen Fajardo Rosales is also secretary of the area 128 nucleus and president of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) number 6, Ricardo Vega, in the demarcation of Pueblo Nuevo. She is, in her community, an example of commitment and humanism.
