Díaz-Canel touching damages caused by hurricane Melissa-Canel

Diaz-Canel visiting communities affected by Melissa in the eastern Cuba.

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, has been interested in knowing personally the damage suffered by the inhabitants of the eastern provinces following the disastrous passage of Hurricane Melissa.

I was the president with his people in municipalities such as Contramaestre, Guamá, among others. He also visited territories in the provinces of Holguín and Granma, where overflowing rivers caused flooding of entire communities, in many cases with underwater houses.

As he passed through the different localities visited, Díaz-Canel stressed that all the country’s forces and resources necessary for recovery will be based on recovery. I have emphasized that it will be difficult but with the effort of all we can get through to return to normal.

We are working hard, there is support from all over the country, there is a great movement of solidarity, but the serious problems that we have will not be resolved overnight,
