Photovoltaic energy favors tobacco sector in Contramaestre

Photovoltaic energy favors the productive and working life of the tobacco sector in Contramaestre.

In recent times, the country’s electro-energy situation has affected the productive and labor dynamics of several sectors. This scenario has demanded multiple alternatives from the workers’ collectives in order not to stop production.

Currently, the Guillermo Licea Twisted Tobacco Factory in Contramaestre is one of the entities in this eastern territory that implements the installation of photovoltaic panels with the purpose of not stopping the productive life and facilitating working conditions for its workers.

We know the fuel problem that the country is facing, from which the generation of electricity is derived, but thanks to the fact that the panels have already been installed and with that we are supplying the deficit of electric energy. This situation helps the workers because they need lighting to be able to carry out their activity, which is fundamental.

However, we have been complementing the plans with a sacrifice of the worker because previously they were working in unsuitable conditions but now there is an improvement in the conditions and development of their work, so we have been fulfilling the plans sacrificially, said Carlos Rafael Andino Perez, head of brigade number three.

A change in the energy matrix has been very well received by this workers’ collective. In this regard, Clarisbel Hernández, union representative of the company, added that our company has the benefit of having two solar panels, one in the area of Los Negros and the other one in the tobacco branch in Contramaestre, which is very beneficial for us because it improves the working conditions of the union members and production.
