This morning the 45th edition of the Week of Contramaestre Culture was officially inaugurated in Jesus Rabi Park of this city, with the participation of city residents and political and governmental leaders of the municipality with the accompaniment of local artists and their different forms of art.
This seven-day event is a response to the founding of the urban area with the name of Contramaestre on February 5, 1913, which then had 31 blocks and 463 lots.
The opening ceremony was enlivened by poetry, painting, the performance of the Contramaestre Concert Band and other local artists, the main speech was given by the city historian Andrés Nuñez Lora, who recounted the fundamental passages leading to the founding of this city.
The Week of Culture in Contramaestre will be dedicated to the philologist Flora Preval Rodríguez, to the 20th anniversary of the categorization as professional groups of Órbita 1 and Explosión del Caribe, to the 35th anniversary of the Orlando Concepción Pérez Literary Workshop, to the 50th anniversary of the birth of Eduard Encina, poet, writer, plastic artist, president of the AHS, and advisor to the Minister of Culture.
Dedication of the Week of Culture
On the other hand, this day is also dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the Petroglyph of Maffo, which occurred on February 21, 1963, which shows that the municipality of Contramaestre is linked to the pre-Columbian culture; to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Orlando Pantoja Tamayo, member of the Rebel Army and internationalist; and to the 160th anniversary of the birth of the veteran of the War of 1895, Manuel Lora Torres.
This Contramaestre celebration will include music, theater, plastic arts, literature, dance and the seventh art in different formats; a colloquium on local history, a meeting of cultural institutions, Expo Sales and auctions of handicrafts, the inauguration of the Plastic Arts Hall, and artistic shows.
The entire program designed for this week of culture in Contramaestre is aimed at the aesthetic and spiritual enjoyment of the locals, as well as the reaffirmation of the cultural identity that distinguishes us as a nation.
