The cold planting campaign is currently underway in the southeastern municipality of Contramaestre. This campaign is being carried out in the midst of a complex economic situation which has affected the agricultural sector in the lack of different inputs necessary to ensure the various crops. However, in spite of the difficulties, the present campaign is progressing in the municipality of Contramaestre in Santiago de Cuba.
The América Libre agroindustrial company is one of the entities of the sector in this territory that is working on the fulfillment of the campaign.
More than 70 percent of the land is planted even with the fuel deficit, which limits to continue working on the preparation of the land in time and thus be able to comply with the established plan.
This result is largely due to the work carried out by the 27 productive structures and the four Base Business Units (UEB) that make up the company. The linkage between them has been one of the entity’s purposes to achieve the expected results, which are none other than guaranteeing agricultural food to the population of Contramaestrense.
In this campaign is being carried out the planting of cassava, sweet potato, tomato, among other crops that ensure the self-sufficiency of the territory. As a characteristic of the campaign, a great variety of crops has been sown, which shows the work and commitment of the Contramaestre farmers.
This result is due to the effort made by the farmers with the oxen, an aspect that directors of the company Agroindustrial America Libre recognize because although they are not enough for the plans that the entity has and the machinery plays an important role in the preparation of land, this technique of animal traction has allowed to fulfill in good measure the figures of established sowings.
According to Ernesto Rosales Molina, if the situation improves with fuel, we can fulfill the plan and perhaps overfulfill because the will of man is there and we see that in the field when we go to the field and we see the desire that they express towards us to want to do, plant and produce.
