The authorities at the provincial level in Santiago de Cuba, as indicated by the highest leadership of the Revolution, are leading the systematic checking of agriculture with emphasis on the fulfillment of plans in food production.
An example of this takes place on weekends in the productive poles of Laguna Blanca and Ruta Martiana, where the success of the campaigns to turn virgin lands into agricultural fields is decided.
Exchanges of the First Secretary of the Party in Santiago de Cuba province José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz and Governor Beatriz Johnson Urrutia with peasants of the productive poles Ruta Martiana and Laguna Blanca in Contramaestre municipality are already usual.
Contramaestre for perfection in agriculture
In this type of farming system check-up, time is gained over time; the farmers explain their difficulties and show their commitments; they point out shortcomings but alternatives are always found.
In one of the most recent checking-up of agriculture, led by the member of the Executive Bureau of the Provincial Party Committee in Santiago de Cuba Eudis Manuel Yeja Fernandez and William Hernandez Morales, Coordinator of the Food Program of the provincial government, these and other topics were reviewed with the men and women of the countryside.
Here they talked about non-payments, delays in the harvesting of crops, non-compliance with contracts and those responsible were pointed out by name, leaving agreements that have immediate compliance dates and permanent checks until the problem is solved.
One of the most discussed aspects related to agriculture was the progress of the cold planting campaign, especially the banana program and the cultivation of vegetables.
The First Secretary of the Party in the province pointed out that the meeting was another fruitful session, without formalities or bureaucracy. This is a method that is giving results, one only has to look around to see life blooming again where until recently there were only weeds.
