The government of Contramaestre defines a broad work strategy to ensure the development of the first process of accountability of the delegate to his electors in the present Eighteenth term of office of the Local Bodies of People’s Power, following the recent agreement of the Council of State of the Republic to develop this democratic exercise between October 15 and November 30, 2023.
In Contramaestre, jurisdiction of the province of Santiago de Cuba, on the occasion of the aforementioned process of government-people accountability, the delegates that make up the 13 popular councils were prepared, emphasizing the need to adopt all the necessary measures to guarantee quality meetings and majority presence of voters, in addition to the proper preparation for this type of meeting, which with these characteristics had been postponed in time because of the Covid-19 and the development of the 2022-2023 elections.
According to Alba Marina Fajardo González, secretary of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power, AMPP, of Contramaestre, among the tasks that mark the strategy are the planning of the assemblies by areas based on the characteristics of the neighborhoods, as well as the development of work sessions at the level of popular councils with the presence of the leadership of the Assembly and Deputy Quartermasters of the local administration for the preparation of the delegates, with the intention of this interest in those who are new to the materialization of these frank and open exchanges in the communities.
Also, added Alba Marina, there is a latent call to the administrative directions to go to the scenarios where they have identified pending issues to be solved and others with explained the causes of no solution, as well as to update the delegates on the progress of the economic and social policies that mark the current juncture through which the country is going through.
In this territory, it is presumed that more than 700 accountability assemblies have been held at the base, so that in the scope of their preparations, also during the first days of October, the creation of the command posts will take place, which by popular councils will contribute to the assessment of the accountability reports and to the control of the tasks involved in the implementation of this process.
Already in Contramaestre, a strong power of convocation to the mass organizations is underway to join the actions that will propitiate the good progress of these assemblies, of which the 161 circumscriptions located in this part of eastern Cuba will be the scenario.
