In the municipality of Contramaestre in Santiago de Cuba province, the América Libre Agro-industrial Company is the main responsible for guaranteeing the self-sufficiency of the 104 thousand inhabitants of this municipality. Consequently, 2023 has been a year of hard work and also of achievements for those men and women who, in this entity of the Ministry of Agriculture, aim for a year 2024 with greater challenges and results.
The opening and further consolidation of four new areas of agricultural development, as well as the introduction and the establishment of a new policy of addressing the productive base, were the highlights of the América Libre Agro-industrial Company in the municipality of Contramaestre in 2023.
Contramaestre faces a new economic approach
This new work approach brought this state structure under the subordination of the municipal government, which assumes greater responsibility in the implementation of the local development strategy, the main element of which is food production.
This fact was an important topic of discussion in the annual balance of this structure of the Ministry of Agriculture in the municipality of Contramaestre. The work commitments for the new stage beginning with the year 2024 were also made known.
The work projections for the new phase include the consolidation of the four new productive development areas in Monteria, Bungo and Las Veguitas, where the sowing of various crops is the main activity.
The company also plans to diversify production, promote the planting of fry in its fourteen water mirrors, and take advantage of their derivatives for the production of sausages, pasta and other foods.
The annual balance of América Libre Company of Contramaestre was attended by the president of the local government, Manuel Rodríguez Alfaro, and the vice-intendent in charge of the sphere, Osmanis García Ge, who recognized the outstanding structures and workers of the entity during the last year. Daniel Pérez Núñez was awarded the distinction of “Best Worker”.
