Educate Your Child Program in Contramaestre despite the economic shortages

The meeting of the members of the coordinating group of the “Educa a tu hijo” (Educate Your Child Program) was held in the rural district of Pueblo Nuevo in the municipality of Contramaestre, with the participation of educational psychologists, directors of educational institutions, public health representatives, district delegates, social workers, sector chiefs and preschool teachers.

The educational encounter took place at the Rafael López Fonseca elementary school. During the meeting, the members of the coordinating group of the Educate Your Child Program discussed the operation of the program as well as the most complex cases in this area of Contramaestre municipality.

The visits made to the six institutions located in the district, children who do not reach satisfactory levels of development and the presentation of a training topic related to this educational program were other topics that were on the agenda of this important exchange.

Informal teaching in Contramaestre goes on

Nancy Vega Rodríguez, promoter of the educational social attention program in the district of Pueblo Nuevo said “(….) so far the Educate Your Child Program is going well, we have involved all the factors, the educational institutions, community factors in order to provide educational attention to children from an early age.”

“First of all, we have activated the task of involving the communities together with the Family Medical Offices and the volunteer executors in order to prepare them for this task. In this way the family is very motivated and the work is aimed at preparing the child population so that when they reach preschool they will have the fundamental elements with the quality that our educational system deserves (…).

Two hundred and forty-seven preschool children between the ages of zero and six make up the Educate Your Child Program in the Pueblo Nuevo district in Contramaestre. This non-institutional Cuban model celebrated its 31st anniversary on January 16.
