Food Production: Everyone's Responsibility

A mobilization to the Laguna Blanca agricultural hub in the municipality of Contramaestre recently took place to plant cassava and sweet potatoes in support of the food program being implemented in Santiago de Cuba province. More than 500 residents of Contramaestre participated, contributing to the program, which was led by Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, First Secretary of the Party in Santiago de Cuba province, along with other Party and government leaders from the area.

The day began early, and by 11:00 a.m., 1.6 hectares of both crops had been planted. These crops will benefit Contramaestre and the province of Santiago de Cuba, and the activity was characterized by its organization, discipline, and efficient use of the workday.

Currently, the territory is preparing to carry out similar days, with the support of mass organizations and workers from different production and service workplaces to increase the production of root vegetables, grains and vegetables and improve the family plate.
