In honor of the invaluable contributions of educators, Contramaestre hosted a municipal ceremony to celebrate Teachers’ Day, aligning with the day’s scheduled activities across the municipality.
The event was led by prominent local officials, including Yoendris Oconor Reyes, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the municipality; Adrián Castellano Nieto, Vice President of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power; Karel Rodríguez López, Mayor of the Municipal Administration Council; Yudeli Arévalo Mora, Deputy Mayor responsible for social programs; Maricel Echavarria G, General Director of Education; and Rafael Cordero Fernández, Municipal Secretary of the Education, Science, and Sports Workers Union.
The cultural segment of the ceremony featured performances by students involved in artistic movements and workshops, alongside other community members.
During the event, distinguished educators from various educational levels and institutions were honored for their exceptional pedagogical contributions, particularly those who successfully prepared students for university entrance exams, achieving a 100% pass rate in the previous academic year.
The ceremony also acknowledged the concerted efforts of educational institutions and local communities in restoring educational activities following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa to the school infrastructure.
Yoendris Oconor Reyes, in his keynote address, emphasized the critical role of education in shaping future generations’ participation in society. He encouraged attendees to sustain and exceed the educational achievements of the past academic year.
