Yoendris Oconnor Reyes leading Contramaestre municipality

Yoendris Oconor Reyes is a relatively young individual who arrived in the municipality of Contramaestre to lead this region with a comprehensive party vision encompassing political, economic, and social aspects for the benefit of the community comprised of dedicated women and men committed to their socialist revolution.

In a concise summary of his life journey, Oconor Reyes, currently the First Secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Contramaestre Party, shares insights into his revolutionary endeavors. At 45 years of age, he is a high school graduate. He was born in the Chile District of the municipality of San Luis, specifically in a sugar mill batey.

Consequently, he started his education at both primary and secondary levels within that same mill batey, consistently excelling in pioneer activities, student engagements, and serving as a student leader during that educational phase. He completed his university studies in the municipality of Contramaestre.

When was 18 years old h e served in the Army in Caimanera at Guantanamo US base. In 1998 he registered at Teachers’ Training University Frank Pais Garcia, in Santiago de Cuba, where he got his degree in Marxism-Leninism History (As a teacher) in 2003.

Following his graduation, as part of his social service obligations, he was assigned to a mountainous region known as the Caoba of San Luis municipality, a rather complex area. During his five-year job there, he took on the roles of professor and school principal. In 2005, he was selected to represent at the World Youth and Student Festival in Venezuela. After this period, he began to engage in political responsibilities.

Oconor attended the Provincial School of the Party and became involved with the Union of Communist Youth in 2008, initially as an instructor, then as president of the pioneers, and subsequently as the first secretary of the Municipal Committee of San Luis, eventually being promoted to a member of the Provincial Bureau of the Union of Communist Youth to serve young workers and advocate for their rights.
