Under the premise of an ever-young summer, the Gerardo Morín Frías Cultural Center, part of the Maffo People’s Council, holds cultural and recreational activities in different communities during the months of July and August. During the current summer season, the main initiatives are being held to celebrate historical dates and commemorative days, clarified Migdalia Márquez Ortega, director of the institution.
The director specified that the schedule of activities includes celebrations for Youth Day and the creation of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC); a tribute to the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, on his birthday; and the closing of summer in the municipality.
Bringing cultural activities to the communities surrounding the institution is a way to contribute to the enjoyment of the population during the summer months. The collaborative work of art instructors and amateur artists is a fundamental aspect of this endeavor.
The Gerardo Morín Frías Cultural Center’s scope of action encompasses the communities of El Guineo, La Venta, Los Pasos Xavier, and Maffo, providing a considerable area for promoting art and culture. Sports specialists also contribute to this effort.
Music and dance are among the artistic forms most accessible to the population, especially children and young people. In the summer of 2025, art and culture represent a healthy and educational form of recreation.
