Mundubat in Contramaestre for more food from local productive capacities

Mundubat en Contramaestre para más alimentos desde las capacidades productivas locales

The international collaboration project for cooperative development implemented in the municipality of Contramaestre concentrates its efforts on local dynamics. Strengthening micro to multiply good productive practices, is part of the strategy of an international collaboration initiative sponsored by the Cuban state, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and the NGO Mundubat.

Accompanying processes for the implementation of the Law on Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security, is the objective of a cooperative development project of the non-governmental organization Mundubat that has been carried out in the last two years of its implementation in five Cuban municipalities.

To evaluate the progress of this international collaboration initiative in Contramaestre, an event was held with participatory dynamics attended by Bárbara Demurtas, representative of Mundubat in Cuba.

Continuing to strengthen the productive bases of the agricultural sector and integral rural development is a priority of this agreement financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.

In line with the law on Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutrition Security, the project aims to strengthen the functioning of communities and boost productive activity at the grassroots level.

Participants at the event agreed that collective efforts must be made to respond to the food crisis through increased production on an agro-ecological basis.

Mundubat is a Basque NGO that has been working in Cuba on the issue of food sovereignty for more than three decades.

Increase food production, improve local productive capacities, mobilize the will… This is the essence of this collaborative project for cooperative development, which should have a positive impact on reducing foreign exchange dependence in order to ensure food security for the Cuban population.
