In Contramaestre, this January 25, the revision of the voters list began, a task that for one month is led by the electoral authorities of each demarcation, in charge of carrying out the house to house visits, an indispensable step in the work schedule for the national elections of next March.
This process, carried out by the electoral commissions of the 161 districts located in Contramaestre, will make it possible to verify and validate the list of voters. The purpose of this exercise is to correct any inconsistencies or errors regarding voters, and thus update the Electoral Register for its publication prior to the elections.
The right to access to voters list
In Cuba, as detailed in the website of the National Electoral Council, the Electoral Registry is based on the principles of public and permanent nature and its conformation ex officio by all citizens with legal capacity to exercise their right to vote.
Its public nature is given by the right of all citizens to know the information about them contained therein, to request to correct, modify or update it and to have access to its publicity during the electoral processes, referendums and plebiscites that are called.
