The municipal people’s court of Contramaestre held an exemplary trial on the grounds of the solar park, which is being built in this municipality of Santiago de Cuba province.
The accused stole screws, washers and nuts for the assembly of the tables and photovoltaic panels. The theft was discovered during a search in the camp where he was sleeping.
In addition, during the subsequent investigative process, the accused gave a false identity. During the oral and public hearing these facts were proven through testimonial and material evidence and the defendant acknowledged his responsibility.
Observing due process, the people’s court of Contramaestre handed down a sentence of five years’ imprisonment to be served in a penitentiary establishment to be defined by the corresponding body of the Ministry of the Interior.
For the construction of the Las Guásimas solar park in Contramaestre, the Cuban government allocated a millionaire budget and the necessary resources for such a colossal work.
This park is the first of its kind in the region and is of extraordinary importance in the change of the energy matrix and the recovery of the national electric system, once it is connected to the grid of the whole country.
