The workers of the agro-industrial company América Libre, in the municipality of Contramaestre, are preparing to welcome the coming May Day, under the premise that “For Cuba together we create”. The main initiatives are focused on the making of posters and banners, both for the parade and for the surroundings of the premises.
Enoc Pérez Suárez, head of the workers’ union in that institution, commented that they intend to carry out a change of work in order to beautify the center, in addition to the cleaning of the banana plantations in the areas of Bungo and La Veguita.
For the agro-industrial company América Libre, the self-sufficiency of the territory is its main task, especially in the midst of the complex economic situation that the country is going through. In this sense, the entity seeks to increase the indicators for the month of April by 80% with respect to the previous month, in order to increase productivity and supply.
In Contramaestre, the May Day celebrations encourage efforts to guarantee the food sovereignty of the municipality and the sustainability of the local economy. This date is also an opportunity to promote development plans in agriculture, an action that will help meet the demands of the population.
At present, the agricultural production of the territory is developing in the midst of great challenges; however, the feeding of the families of Contramaestre continues to be a major task, in which the commitment of productive economic entities such as the agro-industrial company América Libre, is a step forward.
