The government of Contramaestre, under the leadership of the government of Contramaestre, this jurisdiction in eastern Cuba is planning actions framed in social programs for people in situations of vulnerability.

Social programs that take place in this territory are aimed at implementing several policies assumed by the State of the nation: those related to demographic dynamics, integral policy of attention to children, adolescents and youths, against racism and racial discrimination, advancement of women and revaluation of rural areas, among others.

Contramaestre closed the previous year with the identification of 5,83 families in vulnerable situations, including those affected by the effects of natural phenomena, low economic solvency, social situations and health problems, among other causes. There are also six vulnerable demarcations in different popular councils in which action is being taken through the budget to reverse their situation.

This policy was approved in 2021, and its implementation made it possible that in the previous year in Contramaestre 1,937 groups were protected through monetary benefits and a total of 3,217 beneficiaries, including more than 1,500 elderly people and 185 people with disabilities.

To help people with some type of vulnerability, more than 1,700 young people have been identified in the territory, who have been disconnected from socially useful work and have been offered study or work opportunities in accordance with the local economic potential through more than a dozen job fairs and with the participation of the popular councils and local employers.

Intentional work from the government has taken place with the identification of large mothers, with more than a thousand mothers with three or more children under 17 years of age. Of this number, some 64 have benefited from temporary monetary benefits, while some 319 have received some type of resource for the home.

In addition, 45 mothers with severely disabled children were identified, of whom 27 receive the equivalent of the salary they were earning and 16 receive an exceptional temporary monetary benefit.

Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that in this municipality more than 700 people make use of the community dining room service, of which slightly more than 200 are beneficiaries of social assistance.
