“In our company we aim to provide electric service to all customers in the municipality Contramaestre, part of Jiguaní and the municipality Tercer Frente, in addition to commercial this energy of the entire municipality”. Yorgenis Arias Ruiz, director of the Basic Economic Electric Unit (UEB) of Contramaestre, explained.
One of the sectors most affected by the U.S. blockade on our country has been the power sector due to the limitations to purchase the resources, so necessary to preserve the vitality of the power plants. On top of this, there are also the damages caused by breakdowns in the networks that occur in the territory. The manager comments on how the electricity workers in Contramaestre act in the event of these breakdowns:
“As a result of all the generation deficit our municipality has been quite affected and there is quite a lot of irritation in the population. There have been some breakdowns, which must be checked throughout the territory, when there is current, the circuits must be tested and this is done when there is current. This is the way we have been working and we are willing to continue fighting with the difficulties that arise in order to solve the complaints as soon as possible”.
The year 2024 was marked by a crisis in the power sector due to a generation deficit. This, among other causes, led to unwanted blackouts, which had a negative impact on the economy, on the stability of services and on the welfare of the population. In Contramaestre, this is one of the sectors that has received the most complaints and proposals during the year 2024.
The actions of the electrical workers are not limited to the territory, they also provide their contribution in other provinces for the recovery of damaged electrical networks after the passage of intense hurricanes as happened in the provinces of Guantanamo, Artemisa and Mayabeque; demonstrating once again the capacity, knowledge and solidarity that characterizes them. To them, the recognition for the titanic work carried out”.
The approval of an investment for the assembly of two photovoltaic parks in the territory will favor the municipality in the stability of the electric service.
“Our municipality was chosen to undertake the investment of a photovoltaic park in Las Guácimas, which should be completed in the first half of 2025, another photovoltaic park will be assembled in the area of Anacahuita. With two parks assembled in the municipality of Contramaestre and synchronized to the system, it will provide greater stability of the electric service”.
The year 2024 ends with many sorrows caused by the instability of the vital electricity service. The population can trust the electrical workers who day by day give their best and overcome obstacles to solve the problems in order to provide a better service, this is their reason for being.
“We congratulate the entire population for this new year that we receive it with many difficulties but with the desire to continue fighting. To my workers, do not feel demotivated because we are all here to continue working”.
