We, who are proud to be Cubans, know that Cuba is not the perfect society, that there are spots in our sun, without overshadowing the reality that many in the world yearn for today, even when we live in a very complex scenario.
But in terms of human rights, our truth for more than half a century, transcends with sufficient grounds to express that we Cubans are a reference with individual guarantees and public freedoms that make us different in the current society.
Hence, when we say rights in Cuba, we must think of the traveled and built path with hard work and dedication, without forgetting the obstacles or setbacks, but making good practices of optimism and confidence in the present and future to which the country’s men and women aspire.
While in other nations of the world human rights are violated, vanished, disrespected, in this great-hearted Island, our truth is an example on an international scale that does not deny the strengths of a country to defend and perfect the political system we chose.
The leading role played by Cuban women in the economy, science and the provision of services shows the female empowerment that the island has achieved to promote an emancipation that speaks of its dimension to lead the development of the nation.
And what can we say about the happiness of our children who go to their kindergartens and schools free of charge, with guaranteed medical care and enjoyment of the tranquility of the city.
Cuba’s hand of solidarity in many scenarios in defense of brotherhood and progress, offering its love to provide health, education, culture and physical, academic or sports training, is also another of the achievements that distinguish us to ratify the value of our Human Rights.
Today we are working on the improvement of our institutions, on the reinforcement of principles and basic values that define us and make us forge an increasingly fair society.
Although we know of manipulations and intrigues, of economic and media encirclement that will not cease to make us see only the dark side of our reality, Cuba’s good intentions with respect to human rights is part of the defense and preservation of legality, of reason, of the equity of the most elementary rights of the human being.
