This Saturday, the ceremony for the Firefighter’s Day, whose anniversary is celebrated on November 13 throughout Cuba, took place here. With the presence of the members of the Contramaestre Firefighters’ Command, the activity began by paying tribute to the firefighters who lost their lives in the fire of great proportions that occurred in the supertankers of Matanza.
During the ceremony, the following were recognized as Outstanding: the operator, first non-commissioned officer Pascual Anaya Anaya, Private Luis Mario Licea Rodríguez and Captain Eliécer Rodríguez Maceo.
“I serve as company commander. I have been in this command for more than ten years. In the ministry, in a general sense I am about to complete twenty-three years of service.”
“For me it is a great pride to have been recognized in a collective like this one that disciplinedly fulfills its specific work, which stands out a little among colleagues who also deserve to be recognized for all the results obtained in the course of the year.”
“I think that I owe my result to all my subordinates who have obeyed correctly, all the orders, tasks and missions entrusted by the command, always maintaining a correct discipline in the fulfillment of duty, in the preparation, in the self-preparation and I think, that to this I owe this recognition.”
The central words were given by Lieutenant Colonel José Ramón Desdín Tejeda.
“During all this time you have participated and have been present in each of the recovery actions carried out by our country and the fire department has always been present. Today, our preparation is more and more necessary. Natural phenomena are occurring as abnormal situations that imply our previous preparation.”
“In this way we are starting the activities for the three hundred and twenty-sixth anniversary of the fire department. That fire department that was founded in the province of Ciego de Avila and that is going to turn, precisely three hundred and twenty-six years old.”
“We are aware that with our daily work, we are going to improve the prophylactic state of the economic facilities; that is why the consecration of each one of us is important in this sense. We congratulate each of us and our families for the work done during this year, because they are also part of this work”.
Thus comes the recognition to the Contramaestre Fire Department for the already historical and satisfactory performance in safeguarding human lives and material resources in this territory of the province of Santiago de Cuba.
