Contramaestre is one of the municipalities in the province of Santiago de Cuba that maintains a relevant work in agroecological work. Several producers in the territory defend this production alternative that guarantees healthy and wholesome food.
During 2024 and specifically in the second half of the year, the peasant cooperative sector of the province will focus its attention on this aspect because the municipality will have the possibility of selecting five agroecological farms, properties that will be visited by foreign delegations.
These exchanges will be developed within the framework of the International Meeting of Agroecology, Food Sovereignty and Nutritional Education and Cooperativism, an event that will take place in the capital of the country in November.
The purpose of these visits will be to exchange experiences among national and international producers about the agroecological practices implemented on their farms as well as the results obtained.
In this regard, Anapist representatives from the province of Santiago de Cuba made reference to this event, in which Contramaestre will have the opportunity to participate.
In this sense, they argued that the municipal bureau of the National Association of Small Farmers, ANAP, is already informed of the preparation of these five farms because the natural, the ecological is what gives life. Foreigners from regions such as Mexico and Argentina always visit here, Contramaestre is where the agro-ecological work is being carried out (…).
