Representatives of the 95 delegations and the 16 blocks of the Federation of Cuban Women, FMC, from Maffo (District of Contramaestre municipality), met with the purpose of reading and discussing the report to be presented to the municipal assembly of the organization’s Eleventh Congress on September 16; an event in which 175 delegates from the municipality and other guests will be present.
The meeting was chaired by Maité Villa Ortega, general secretary of the FMC (by its name in Spanish) and Daineris Cause Vaillant, an official of the organization in the municipality who attends the People’s Council.
Those present learned about the work of the FMC in the territory during the last five years. In the document read, positive and negative aspects of the operation of the organization were evaluated, as well as the work projections for the next stage.
The grassroots leaders present were able to express their criteria on the contents of the report, which allowed enriching the proposal.
Women in Maffo: federates and cederistas
“We are cederistas and we are federates and you talk to the women and tell them about the situation we have, you talk to them about prevention, you are giving them an explanation of the situation we have as federates and if they are rescued, because that is how we did it and it was good.
We did not carry out the activity as such, but the meeting was held and we talked about how the delegation is doing, in terms of prevention, functioning, everything. On September 23, a discussion was held, and it was very good. We have to unite because if the force is not united we can never do anything. The federation cannot let itself fall because it is the women who always take the lead.
“We collected a lot of things for the victims of the windsock in Baire. If we all did like this, everyone would solve a little bit of the problems they have at home, it means that in unity there is strength”.
The occasion was propitious to announce the names of the 27 women in Maffo selected as delegates to the assembly of the municipality and the two who will attend the provincial assembly, as well as the five women proposed to integrate the municipal committee of the FMC.
