Cuban mothers are carved from fine and precious wood, marianas who combine nobility and beauty. Before them, difficulties tremble and are minimized.
The history of our mothers is full of sacrifices, of mambisas who went deep into the manigua and gave their children and lives to fight for freedom. They served as prodigal daughters giving their love and their lives.
Tears shed before the inert bodies of their children in hiding forged their spirit, a page of the Patriotic History that places them in the highest place of glory.
Today’s challenge for these mothers is no less glorious, perhaps the crudest in history, shortages, difficult circumstances, new challenges. A reality that harms the normal development of their children and where the imperialist blockade is a dagger that pierces their hearts.
These unjust measures against the nation are intensified every day, limiting the possibility of food, restricting the electricity supply necessary for studies, the means of teaching in schools and Cuban mothers suffer this, they feel deeply the shortages affecting their children, the dreams that are cut short, the hopes that are distant. Our mothers become stronger, they grow and bring out the hidden forces, they encourage their children, they raise them to be optimistic, they educate them strong and prepared.
Cuban mothers give up their privileges to see their children grow up and become good men and women. Mothers who every day repeat to their children “you, get up and walk, the future of the Homeland belongs to you”.
