Contramaestre to improve local management

Contramaestre elects local an provincial governors

The municipality of Contramaestre, as well as the whole of Cuba, faces important challenges arising from the lessons learned in the 2023 national elections. According to Miguel Díaz Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, ”it is necessary to strengthen and improve the link between the deputies and the voters.”

In reference to this issue, Díaz Canel referred to ten immediate priorities, in which all the economic, political and social entities of the country are involved in their implementation. In the first place, he listed the need to definitively improve the performance of the municipalities, an issue that is also recurrent for the southeastern territory of Contramaestre.

Contramaestre is to achieve autonomy

The municipality has to create the conditions to achieve autonomy that contemplates five fundamental elements: the power to elect its authorities, the capacity to identify and deduce which are its priorities to satisfy needs, to have resources, to have delimited competence in its sphere of action and to have its own rules to comply with the task of representing the people well and reaching out to all.

Therefore, for Contramaestre, the immediate priority of definitively perfecting the municipality has to go hand in hand with the achievement of municipal autonomy: to emerge from this own environment, to focus on what to do to achieve development, which results in collective benefit, above all by testing local potentialities, thus being better inserted in the territorial organization of the State, with the confidence that the changes are for the good of our society, which faces serious economic difficulties, but not impossible to overcome.
