Maternal and Infant Care Program in Contramaestre upgrading

Contramaestre aims to improve PAMI indicators

At the beginning of 2025, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal Miranda, visited the municipality of Contramaestre and his main objective was to check the progress of the Maternal and Infant Care Program, PAMI.

His indications were to redouble the control over the processes involved in the fulfillment of actions and regulations related to reproductive health in this town of Santiago de Cuba.

Accordingly, the Municipal Directorate of Public Health and the Contramaestrian government have proposed a series of actions aimed at making the participation of agencies and entities linked to this programmatic platform more effective.

For example, the contribution of the agricultural sector should be increased in terms of volumes and quality of supplies. Emphasis should be placed on meats, milk, viands, grains, eggs, honey and vegetables.

These contributions must comply with the strategy of providing balanced and sustained nutrition for pregnant women and underweight children in communities and medical institutions.

Contramaestre intends to resolve in time the demand for cribs and other clothing and accessories for layettes, the repair or renovation of doctors’ offices, specialized rooms and maternity homes that require it, as well as the eradication of dirt floors.

None of the above will be impossible if all sectors, entities and organizations actively participate in one of the most noble and efficient historical programs of the Cuban state.
